So I Started a Blog. (At 3 a.m.)

Nice to meet you. I'm a dad raising two kids in Kita Ward, Nagoya.

The decision to start this blog was made at 3 a.m.

It was time for the little one's bottle, and as I stood in the kitchen shaking the formula, a thought drifted in: "How many dads in Japan are awake at this exact moment?"

I never actually looked it up, but the answer is probably: a lot. And every single one of them, I'm certain, is doing exactly what I was doing — standing in a dim kitchen, staring at the wall, shaking a bottle.

The kitchen at 3 a.m. Time to stare at the wall and shake a bottle.

So I figured: maybe I could write something for the comrades who are headed down this road, and for the ones who are in the thick of it right now. Maybe our family's failures could become someone else's "oh good, it's not just us."

And that's how this blog got started.

What I Plan to Write About

  • Parenting fail stories — The flagship content around here. Inventory is unlimited.
  • Honest takes on baby gear — The things I bought thinking "this will fix everything" that now hibernate in the closet, and the things that actually pull their weight.
  • Nagoya outings — Starting with Meijo Park: places with nursing rooms, weekend and holiday pediatric emergency care, and so on. Sharing the "nobody told us until it was too late" stuff before you need it.

The update schedule is "days the kids actually went to sleep." In other words: irregular.

If you're out there getting through the same sleepless nights, welcome — I'm glad you're here. Comments are always welcome. Replies will arrive after the kids are asleep.
